In an ongoing effort to assist more associates through the Direct Grant program, The Homer Fund has expanded the list of the Direct Grant's qualifying expenses. The Homer Fund now considers:
- Payment of medical insurance premiums, removing the burden of the cost of maintaining medical insurance during the associate's medical leave
- Payment of the essential funeral expenses for a deceased parent or young adult child (up to the age of 26)
- Assistance with the expenses related to traveling to attend the funeral of a parent, sibling or child (up to a family of four)
- Assistance with the expenses related to the unanticipated increase in the associate's family size (i.e., unexpected guardianship of grandchildren)
- Assistance with the cost of major car repairs
- Assistance with the cost of major home repairs
- Assistance with basic necessities impacted by specific types of crime
- Assistance with basic necessities impacted by the loss of court-ordered child support or government subsidies
