In just the first four weeks of The Homer Fund campaign, we have had over 13,000 new donors sign up and 68% of our associates company-wide are now donating to the Fund. That’s a great start, but we still have a lot of work to do before the campaign ends on May 31!
We are confident that this year’s campaign will end with more associates supporting the Fund than ever before. As an added incentive for our associates to give to the Fund, our CEO, Frank Blake, has issued a special challenge:
Currently, 84% of salaried associates are giving; if we increase that to 90%, Frank will donate $250,000 to The Homer Fund!
No other leader at the Company lives by the inverted pyramid more than Frank, and he is encouraging all salaried associates to respond to this challenge and join him in showing support of our hourly associates by giving to the Fund.
Signing up to donate is easy– just click the Donate tab on our website and choose your preferred method. You can enroll in automatic payroll donations, donate via credit card, or print out the contribution form to use with your one-time check donation. Completed contribution forms can be returned to your Homer Fund captain along with payment to be mailed to The Homer Fund.
Meeting Frank’s challenge will send a powerful message to all of our associates and reinforce our values of taking care of one another and giving back. During the campaign, you can track the progress of Frank’s Challenge each Monday by viewing the salaried participation reports.
My Home Depot store (1110) is like a family and you always help family when they are in need, so I signed up to contribute to the Homer Fund as soon as I found out there was a Homer Fund and what it was for. I have been an employee for a little over 8 years and during that time I have participated in several fundraisers for my co-workers. I never really thought I’d need to use the Homer Fund myself, but in Feb. my mother passed away and I found out just day’s prior that she had let her life insurance as well as her burial lapse. My Home Depot family sprang into action while I was back home for the funeral. They started a fundraiser and put in the application for the Homer Fund without me even having to ask. I love my co-workers and I really appreciate the programs Home Depot has to take care of their employee’s.
I have not worked for Home Depot very long, but from what I have seen the people I work for and the company are amazing! I love my store (4650) and every associate in it. KNowing that I could be part of helping one of my family members makes all the difference in the world to me. This fund was a great idea and could help someone in any of our stores that we care about. So thank you to every associate who donates!
I am proud to say that the store I work with 6376 is 100% in the HomerFund. I only hope that other stores do the same and know that it goes to a good family or home. I know we have had some bad storms in the west and some of those familys really need our help. It makes you feel so good when you know you did something to help even if it is a little. Thank you Home Depot family for doing what you do.
i to am proud to donate to the homer fund as well. Many of firnds have benefited from the fund. Christy (now deceased) had come down with cancer. She was part of our MET team with district 150. The Homer fund matched our fund raising from bake sales and silent auction. Dale, another member of our team, has also came down with cancer. We did the same with him as well, raising funds in a bake sale and other contests.
It was an honor to see the Homer fund at work in Joplin MO in the aftermath of the tornado in partnership with Team Depot.
Am a new horly associate cashier at Home depot 2550 store and am impressed with the stories i read about the Homer Fund initiative. It is a noble cause that needs all the support necessary to become a “dream-come-true.”
Has anyone ever thought Of having a Homer Fund Car division for those part time associates that are on some form of disability that need help in affording a car along with the many expenses asssociated with car ownership????? With a planned obsolesence say every 15 years for a new car??? Please reply.
The Homer Fund’s primary focus is to help associates with their basic living expenses, such as rent/mortgage/utilities. The Fund has the ability to help with other expenses, such as car repairs, through our Matching Grant program which requires the cooperation of your store. Our guidelines are structured to provide fair and consistent assistance in situations where the need is greatest, while maintaining our 501(c)3 charitable status.
